Visit in May 2017.
A lovely day for a walk round the grounds and to sit outside at the cafe. Astley Hall includes the house, a park, lake with fountain, heritage centre, allotment vegetable garden, cafe and a study centre.
The house has just had a lot of preservation work, some is still underway. It's best features are the windows at the front and the plaster ceilings. Very elaborate. The entrance hall is attractive as well.
The cafe is a good one with a good standard of seating outside. The Heritage Centre has photos of old Chorley and at the time a painting exhibition by local artists.
Inside the hall at our visit was an exhibition by Chorley Photographic Society who claim to be one the best in the country. The photos were a very high standard.
When we left on a very sunny Sunday at around 1pm the car park was overflowing.
